Cassandra Conference
While the global climate conversation often centers on carbon credits and rising temperatures, The Cassandra Conference aims to shift the focus to the people living through the consequences. Organized by Eurecat, the 2026 edition of this global event is scheduled for February 4–5, 2026, operating as a hybrid forum both online and from its headquarters in Barcelona.
The conference operates on the premise that climate change is a "threat multiplier" that cannot be treated as an isolated environmental issue.
Three Pillars of Action
Unlike traditional summits, the Cassandra Programme focuses on tangible implementation through three distinct pillars:
Local Climate Forums: Empowering community activists in 26 countries across Africa and the Mediterranean to lead their own climate strategies.
Science Embassies: Establishing a network of experts to provide direct technical support to local communities when they need it most.
Science-Cultural Communication: Training scientists to move beyond "the silence of science" and communicate complex data through art and accessible language to inspire social action.
2026 Focus: Expanding Horizons
The 2026 conference marks a major expansion for the initiative. While previous years focused heavily on the Mediterranean and Africa, the upcoming event will detail new pilot projects in India, South-East Asia, and the Americas. Sessions will also feature high-level dialogues on "Transformative Leadership for a Just Transition," streamed live from the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.
For those looking to participate, registration for the online event is currently open.
